316 vs 904... No Omega's is a not proprietory blend like Rolex. 904 has a little more resistance to corrosion. Both are high grade. Is Rolex's steel worth hundreds to thousands more? I doubt it. In reality it is a few dollars worth of metal. You are paying for design and tooling. The average person would never know the real difference in metals if they were in raw form right in front of them, let alone perform differently. Is Omega's steel inferior, well that is subjective...the power of marketing...
