My last two Pateks, though nowhere near in the same league as the 5270 (But I am extremely happy with them and suits my needs) were bought from non AD's all with the correct documentation & boxes, including one that had actually been freshly serviced and even checked out on my behalf by the after sales staff at the London Salon.
Both pieces registered on the Patek Philippe website.
I understand that it is a delicate position/decision for the OP to make.
Only he knows, whether, in the future he will be looking to add an application piece. Which in that case the AD has two be the correct route. If not buy from the grey dealer and potential save themselves a load of money :)))
