This sort of deal does reflect on the seller, if you purchased this from a car boot sale (yard sale for those in the US!) then it would well be worth investigating, but buying from another vintage Rolex collector begs the question of why sell as a franken watch..
It seems to me you purchased the watch with rose tinted glasses hoping for a super rare piece..
