I think it totally depends on how you buy it. You can't get the non-ceramic in SS new, unless you find some NOS and I'm sure it will cost a premium. If you had to buy a new C at inflated MSRP+ then no, that's not a good long-term purchase.

So, apples to apples, a nice used SS or a nice used C, the latter will cost more and long-term probably only a smidgen more valuable, if at all.

But you can't buy a watch as an investment, unless you get a real classic vintage model. And even then you really need to buy whatever it is you like, wear it and enjoy it. Otherwise, as a pure investment vehicle, you'd do better with stocks and bonds.
