Your dentist, if competent, should be able to fully explain your treatment so that you fully understand the condition of your mouth, why he is making these treatment recommendations and what to expect long term. This may or may not be exactly what you need (I don't know your issues). What we cannot do for you is change your values. This fee may be completely justified, if you have an experienced clinician who really knows what he's doing. Many young dentists coming out of school today are arriving on the scene with a significant debt and they all expect to be country club members and have a nice watch or two (he he). It takes years, 15 or more, of experience and continued education to understand the complexity of the stomatognathic system so whatever you do don't shop price. It will not save you money by doing it twice. Good luck.
