Monitor the date change, and if the problem persists, take it back.
Some time ago, there was a thread about the date not displaying completely. The owner said that he played with the date, for every day of the month, back and forth, until it was displaying completely with every change. Once the date changed completely, he was moving to the next date. Don't know how much it would help in this case, but since you've said that going backwards made the date unstuck, who knows.
