Thankyou all for such positive and helpful comments.

I am delighted to find that opinion here and elsewhere supports my belief that the insert is correct. One does like to trust one's eyes and "nose" with vintage Rolex, even those with which one has less experience.

The dial has caused some debate.

I have stated that I believe the dial to be relumed, but some significant names said it might not be. I remain of the opinion that it is, but post here some images which may help conclude any debate.



























Now, that lovely bezel is stuck solid. "Doris, the big hammer please!" .....suggestions welcome!
