Excellent post on what 'should' be common sense when buying secondhand, or as we've seen from unfortunate examples, even brand new from ADs.

My last purchase from a well recognized and respected gray dealer here in TRF has solidified my decision to buy new whenever possible. I was told the watch had just a few scratches on the bracelet, nothing was said about it being polished. What I ended up receiving was a watch that had a fair share of scratches, and 2 noticeable dents on the side of the watch case that was clearly polished. It was deep enough that the polishing job didn't remove the dents. Question is, why were there still scratches on the bracelet portion, if the watch was clearly polished??

Needless to say, the watch went back and I decided to buy the same watch new.
