Rolex film trivia...what is this Rolex?

I enjoy trying to identify watches worn by film characters, particularly if the camera does a close-up on a watch and holds for a second or two. Last night I watched a film I´d recorded: “L.A. Confidential”, from 1997. It takes place in 1953, and there is a scene where a young police lieutenant, sitting alone in his precinct, puts on his glasses and looks at the electric wall clock. He then looks at his watch, a Rolex, and sees that the wall clock is running 4 minutes slow to his Rolex. He gets up and goes to the wall clock, and starts to adjust it when a telephone rings, informing him of a crime scene. I find the scene amusing…perhaps the director (Curtis Hanson) was a Rolex wearer and fan, and was making the point that a Rolex would run more accurately than some cheap wall clock!?

Is the watch a real Rolex from the period or a film prop? I can´t identify it by googling. I´m no expert on vintage Rolexes, but perhaps one of you guys out there can identify it? Here it is:
