I agree with you on the 1016, unfortunately prices have skyrocketed. You can get some very nice examples of vintage datejust 1601s well below 10k. When it comes to vintage I recommend finding the best condition of a particular model/reference, rather then lets say the cheapest 1016 or 1680 available.
