Look at the way you described each watch. I haven't seen the two specimens you're choosing between, but I can already tell that the Breitling would fetch a higher premium amongst serious collectors, if monetary value is what you're going after. I mean, hey- the upside on vintage choice Breitlings are far, far greater than common Rolexes. And that's coming from the likes of Aurel Bacs, John Goldberger, etc.

And if it's horological value, the answer above still applies.

It's not as though you're choosing the finest Movado or finest Zodiac vs. a decent Rolex. You're choosing between a collector's Breitling and a mid-tier collector's Rolex. If the Explorer came with box and papers maybe it'd be a closer choice, but not here.
