I love mine for display purposes and to be able to grab and go. This topic gets debated frequently with no consensus. While the excessive “wear and tear” intuitively makes sense, the effects on the watch mechanisms may be exaggerated. I’ve had service on a watch maybe 10-15 times. I’ve never seen “excessive wear” or anything like that on the assessment. The only consistent thing is “dried oils” which is a whole other discussion. They often replace the crowns even though I keep mine on a winder. Since my watches are on my winder, I rarely use the crowns to adjust the time and date (maybe once every couple of months). And I’ve never seen a recommendation that says anything like “to prolong the life of your watch, do not wear it every day or store it for a few weeks at a time.” Could you imagine buying a Submariner and the AD saying something like “enjoy your watch, but remember to give it a break every now and then by letting it rest for a couple weeks.”
