Paying to bump someone else already ahead of me in line just seems a bit too smarmy, but that's just me.
Now what I will do,
on the way out, is generously tip the maitre d' after introducing myself and thanking him for such a wonderful dining experience.
Make that a habit at your favorite dining establishment and you'll be amazed how short the wait becomes!
