If you can I would defenitly go the new route. I have seen brand new ones for les then 3300 euro's(about 2600 pounds if my currency converter is correct) over here.
I bought a 2005 used one and this is also my first and only Rolex at the moment. Do have a couple of other nice watches though of witch the Tag Heuer S/el chronometer and Link chronometer are my favorites.
