HEV material

When Rolex first began to instal the HEV to the sub, did they use titainium?
Or was the valve constructed from the same material that the case was made out of. I ask because the construction of the inital HEV looked to function in a very different way to the later ones.
I was wondering if the initial hev was infact made out of titanium if there would be any problems with the different contracting and expanding rates of the different metals of the case and valve in excessive temperatures.
thanks
