On the Datejust, the crystal sits very high and thus it takes most of the contacts that may cause scratches.
On the Royal Oak, the crystal is flush fit.
If scratches on the bezel disturb you, the RO is not for you, that‘s why I solved the issue by buying a RO Diver with Ceramic bezel as a scratched bezel would bother me.
