I usually would try to remove the battery, wait maybe 5 to 10 min, then reinsert the battery again. Or try another brand new battery. But the 1666 movement does have a low battery indicator (which the 2nd hand jump every 5 sec). So I kinda doubt its the battery itself.
just to give you an idea, Omega will replace the movement for $500, and I think it would be the latest 1666C SQ movement.

Yes, your understanding is correct: the H and M do not sync manually (or move with the regular time) although the S hand keeps regular time and syncs properly.
I have read on other forums that Omega is not big on servicing and elects to replace the movement with a less desirable one.
I was hoping that a simple clean and lube job would do the trick, but have to admit it is simple wishful thinking.
