First point is that it just looked too new. Come on a 40 year old watch in NOS condition. Buying these watches takes a LOT of research and discussions with collectors.

Second point as discussed on VRF the dial has issues and quite a few which make it wrong.

The John Mayer Dial is a completely different discussion and had no bearing on the the Rolex Cosmograph pump pusher dials.

Forth point yes the Paul Newman dials were shown in Rolex Brochures but only the 6239 and 6241.


Here my is my 43 year 6241 with all its imperfections.












The only relevant point actually is that you love this watch and you bought it for the right reason (these are not investments or to show off).
