Sounds correct- you are lucky they didn't swap the original dial back in 1984 to the newer gloss version which apparently at that time was an upgrade and some dealers would change out the dials on the older inventory to make it more sale-able. I believe I have such an example-- where the watch was sold in 1985 but was a 1982 serial number. The dial has vintage patina, but it's gloss. I like both of them so you are right, the price point between gloss and matte is gigantic!!
