Personally, I don't care for diamonds on watches...whether they're worn by men or women. Accents on a watch should be subtle and enhance the watch. The watch should not enhance the accents. I feel diamonds tend to overshadow the watch. On a man's watch, this can become even more obvious, as they are generally larger watches, and so it's more evident.
On a very small woman's watch, it's harder to see and such a watch is really pure jewelry to begin with.
For that matter, i'm not big on precious metal watches...for much the same reason.
But, we all have our own taste and much remain true to that.
