It's possible it needs a service given the issues with the movement
How is the timekeeping?
Does it run slow?

As Larry says, it's not uncommon for a mechanical watch to need a little jiggle to help it get going, but I will say that it's been my experience that it becomes incrementally more difficult to kick start them as they near service time.
