I think you should try on the 31mm and give it some serious consideration.
My first Rolex was a Lady DJ at 26mm. I almost immediately regretted the purchase as the dial was so hard to read. I remember at the time (2007) trying on a midsize (31mm) at the AD and thinking how large it looked. Funny how perceptions change. Now I wear a 36mm Datejust. Trendy or not, my farsighted eyes appreciate it.
