I am 5'8" and wear heels on top of that, and I have the 29 mm ladies' Yachtmaster...I am still of the old school of not liking larger watches on women.
Are you sure your wife wants a surprise? With something as expensive as a Rolex that I wear every day, I am so glad my husband let me pick out my own watch (it was for our 10th anniversary). Surprises are fun for things that aren't worn every day, such as a bracelet or necklace.
