It's not "Breitling" that's complicated, rather the Navitimer
(or Cosmonaut or Chronomat).
Back in the day
(in this case, we're talking about 1942 for the Chronomat), no one had an iPhone. No one had an electronic calculator. Of course we can assume every pilot had an own circular slide rule, but having it on the wrist presented them with quick and constant access to the info.
The Navitimer is a perfect example of a
tool watch...
