Many jewelers made or imported their own cases and movements separately, then put them together for sale in their own shop.
Ladies cocktail watches from the early years can be almost impossible to track down, although sometime internal markings can be researched.
If the case is solid in the back, then the bezel comes off and the movement is removed through the front. Unlikely that there is any water resistance to these, so be careful with it. Hallmark stamps, also inside, may tell you if it is cold or sterling, etc.
