This is exactly right. Think about getting an email from
john.tourneau@gmail.com. Or
sally.wempe@gmail.com. Or Susie-Tiffany&Co@gmail.com. It’d be worth asking, “hey Wempe, do you use gmail?” Quite an obvious inquiry I think.
