You absolutely need a brush. You can scrub at 18K PCLs ALL DAY and nylon bristles won't scratch them. I read recently on here that they will. They do not. Providing there are no abrasives to drag around. Rinse first.
You need a brush to clean the lugs right up to the bezel. And in between those links. These are areas that soapy hands don't reach.
