I recently acquired a V series 42mm 973 with the OPXXXIV movement. It's my understanding that the new W series models have the "new" in-house P.900. In talking with Panerai concierge, they were very vague in discussing the P.900 but the representative did say that it has the exact same specifications as the OPXXXIV and that Panerai "did what it took" to make it in-house. Although I have no proof, it's my opinion that it is indeed the exact same movement and that it has just been renamed !! I find it hard to believe that Panerai would develop a new "in-house" movement after only 1 year of using the OPXXXIV ! Regarding my 973 OPXXXIV - after only a few weeks of ownership, I'm sending it back to Panerai Service. It's gaining about 1-2 minutes per day and the bezel has about .5 -.75mm of movement. That's not when rotating it, but when rocking it when it's in the stationary position. TOTALY UNACCEPTABLE !!!
