When I was searching for a YM-II 116680 (which I own now) I occaisionaly noticed this 1st generation promoted as the "BLUE ARMS" version; suggesting/indicating that in the future this would become a typical, coveted version of the YM II, since it now only is produced by Rolex with "Mercedes/typical Rolex" Hands etc.
Example:
Rolex Yacht-Master II Steel Blue Arms
Guardian Of Time
52 Berkeley Square
Ground Level
London W1J 5BT
United Kingdom

What do you think and btw which version do you prefer.....?

Who knows what the future holds? This watch is not popular at all and to see any meaningful appreciation, we may have to wait another 30-40 years. Not sure I’ll be still around that time.
Aesthetically I prefer the new version. To me, Rolex sport watch “look” is not complete without Mercedes handset and triangle at 12. These hands also seem more proportionate with the big dial, whereas previous hands seem a bit skinny. Just personal preference... old design will go down in history as the original design, nothing can take that away!
