I wouldn't mind the brushed sides of that 1/2 link because no one would see it anyway.

Nah.. I think there are better solutions out there :)
My biggest problem will be aquiring one of the clasps / easylink.
No Rolex AD is selling them here (except if I already had a Rolex with the same part).
