Totally agree. I don't get it either. If a company is known for it and does it well, I'll give them a try. I'll never wear Rolex sunglasses, or any swag. It's not what they do well. I try not to wear or carry anything with visible logos, if I can help it.

Luxury brands going outside of their lane on everything is a cash grab preying on flashy consumers, IMO.

If you don't know anyone like this, you're not looking around.

Walk into a grocery store and see what half the women are carrying. Probably some Michael Kors, Louis Vuitton, Coach, maybe some Kate spade and a mixture of other vulgar garbage.

Look in the parking lot, I'm sure 75%+ of those cars are financed with the notes being underwater.

The building you're likely shopping in to observe all of this likely won't be paid off for another 30 years, by some company that decided it needed to build some $10 million supermarket so that the local grocer who worked with local farmers couldn't compete.

We've got buildings so nice, noone can afford to occupy half of them these days.

I think the financial situation of most people speaks volumes. Most people fail to live within their means, or without extended credit they can pay on time. To me, that speaks to the vulgarity of society as a whole. At the end of the day, these stupid airpod cases probably cost less than the depreciation of a Rolex in this market, so hard to fault one and not the other in my opinion.

I don't wear my Rolex most days as its become a safety concern to an extent. If it wasn't such an offensive display of wealth, I don't think I'd have those reservations.
Agree generally. I'd rather have financial freedom with my simple leather bag and my Toyota parked outside my modest home. Better than a tacky monogrammed LV bag in my Mercedes parked outside my mansion drowning in debt that I slowly chip away at with a job I hate. All in the hopes of impressing strangers. An extreme example, I know. However, I know many folks who are living in some version of it.

My wife is one of those women in the grocery store, as you say. She collected them before we met and has since given many away to family. The ones she has kept she uses quite a bit. Might as well, she paid enough for them.
