The 8 looking like it was hand drawn isn't uncommon. I'm subbing to see what some of the experts have to say.

I will say this though - a lot of the older (1970s, 60s) rolexes and Tudors I look at, will have some kind of wear within the serial or reference number, where the end links have rubbed over time. Having said that, as Springer observes, the rust indicates the parts are quite a few years old.
