Not everyone buying watches lives their life according to residual value – many that can afford such sums easily buy because they simply what they like the look of or its exclusivity.
This obsession over how much of its RRP it’ll retain seems to be the sole preserve of forum members only, who are but a small (if somewhat vocal) drop in the ocean compared to the typical watch-buying consumer.

Show me a Lange/Patek/Vacheron in Platinum, produced at a rate of 20 pieces per annum, that costs $55K for a start – they we can begin to compare apples with apples.
