If you rip it off someones arm, no matter how fast or hard, I doubt it could shift the bezel in another direction, take out a chunk of the case and another chunk at the bottom. Even if you fall and struggle.

True, but maybe two forces pulling from the opposite direction of each other might have been strong enough to break on the weaker part which is the crown?
Anyway, there are tons of possible reasons this timepiece ended this way. Hopefully, we will get to know more from OP.
