Nice video for the best buy, mate. IMHO the Submarine Date is clearly the better watch. Omega makes good watches however it is clearly evident that their Seamaster Design History is rather inconsistent and all for the place seeking to catch the Submariner Date. Although the 300M is a good watch with its own following but the watch is not as good as the Submariner Date. The helium escape valve and crown are heidious and a gimmick that does not work. The so-called waves are back dial creates a dial that is way too busy. The scalloped edges on the bezel are great for desk diving but even that will be difficult with wet hands! I wonder why Omega still is using them - do you have any idea why Omega refuses to give up on these two ill thought out features? The Submariner Date remains the ultimate dive watch. It is iconic because Rolex adheres to Michelangelo's priniciples: Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication. The Rolex design compliments function while Omega's design caters to the whims of fashion. The 300M is okay but the Submariner Date is classic both in function and in design. The Omega 300M is initially a best buy but in no way is the better watch. With respect to the long run, however, Rolex will again prevail because of it's re-sale value will increase while the value of the 300M will depreciate - too bad because the 300M is a nice watch. Meanwhile the Submariner's features are classic and second to none and the next Submariner Date will be even better than this generation of Submariners. The Submariner Date is still the Champion Dive Watch!
