Just like most questions, the answer is that it depends.

Does your AD have a used section on display? Do they carry used at all? This will give you the answer to your question.

Years ago, my primary AD carried used but not on display. Nowadays they have a few more so they have a section carved out in a corner for used.

If the AD is willing to carry and deal in used watches, there’s a chance they’ll give you a fair trade. Especially if you’re a long term customer and the other variables are right.

If we’re talking about a Rolex boutique or very “retail” type location, you’re probably going to get lowballed like many other posters said. The high end boutique type ADs don’t want the trouble and inconvenience of dealing in used watches and will wholesale them out, resulting in a worse deal for you.
