This 7923, that sold at auction in 2015 was very similar to the watch in question, having identical Mercedes hands, identical movement and a similarly unusual dial (in that 1, it gives the water-resistance depth in the first place and 2, the depth is not in red).

So I don't think it should be assumed that the hands are wrong for a 7923.
