That does look like an acrylic crystal which would make the watch a hell of a lot more than five years old. If acrylic (plastic), polywatch, as recommended above, will do a great job removing scratches but you can also try using toothpaste which works too. For sapphire glass crystals, very very very shallow scratches can sometimes be removed with "diamond paste".
