being disaffected by the current difficulties buying watches from AP and Rolex, and excited by a skeletonised GP Laureato I had seen (i temporarily perceived it as a poor man's Bubba Watson), i decided to visit the AD here in Sydney (Shum Watches).

In person i thought the tapisserie dials and chrono's in steel looked ok. for 20k aud i didn't think that was crazy (but neither was i going to buy one). not as nice as my 15400 but pretty much same price. not a nice comparison given that the RO is a design icon (which as much as i like the laureato it certainly is not).

ceramic laureato is like 40k though and skeletonised and ceramic (including bracelet) got you to something like 55k.

i sort of wanted to do it right. go to an AD, buy a watch i had tried on and that "sung" to me etc. forget about all of the other stuff (re-sale etc etc). but i'm not rich and paying AP money for GP is probably not in the tea leaves, enthusiast or no.
