I'm looking more at the lugs and not the face. If the lugs exceed the wrist quite a bit, that's where I personally say it's too big. Does a 44mm panerai fit just right? if so, I wouldn't force a 47. However, as others are saying, it's personal preference and you have to love it at the end of the day.
Perhaps in this case, you're choosing between slightly too small or slightly too big. If you really want one of these two, then you have to decide which concession you are more comfortable with.
