What you seem to be requesting is the "Sub of Panerai" on an OP budget? ;-)

As for the 609, I think its MSRP is around $7k? Also, I think its sandwich dial is pretty shallow, with it looking like a sausage dial from a distance. Depending on your priorities, that could be a good or a bad thing.

Anyway, for a Panerai "Sub", look for a 000 or 111 (or 005 or 112). 111 or 112 for sandwich. Or, if you really want the 609's wire lugs, look for a 183. If you buy lightly used, you will easily be in your budget and the watch won't depreciate.
