Interesting thread. I didn't realize there was two different versions of the clasp.
I notice the newer clasp has pronounced laser welds on the portion of the clasp that attaches directly to the link. One side looks more noticeable than the other...It may have been rewelded (?)
I don't see the advantage of the longer clasp portion that lies on the wrist unless the glidelock is 'maxed' to its most outer position....even so, I cannot get mine to open under stress. YMMV.
