At last. PAM670

This has been an aspired acquisition for around 18 months. I've sold various watches to fund this, most notably my beautiful Rolex Hulk (which was my 'keeper') and stunning blue dialled Panerai PAM932 'Mediterraneo'. Three days in and absolutely no regrets and don't expect to have any. I'm amazed at how wearable this is and surprisingly subtle on the wrist.

It has so many things I enjoy in a Panerai - titanium case, domed crystal, beautiful dial, power reserve indicator, 8 day manual wind, easy strap change mechanism, waterproof and Luminor. On top it has seconds reset, AM/PM indicator, GMT, independent hours adjustment, date, month and the Equation of Time. All layed out in a beautiful bi-compax format.

Here is a simple explanation of the EoT from Panerai Central:

The equation of time is the measurement of the difference between actual time and the conventional time used in everyday life. It is a classic complication of Haute Horlogerie, which harks back to the ancient link between time measurement and astronomy. Because of the elliptical orbit of the Earth round the Sun and the particular tilt of the Earth’s axis of the rotation in relation to the equator, a day is exactly 24 hours long only four times in a year, while on all other days there is a difference between real time (solar day) and conventional time, by which a day may be up to about 15 minutes longer or shorter, depending on the time of the year. This information is displayed on the linear indicator on the bottom of the dial.

Here is a super article on Hodinkee, introducing the watch and also explaining the Equation of Time: https://monochrome-watches.com/paner...-review-price/
