Totally on same page as you AK and Jorge. Its a unique time for Patek considering trends vs. tradition as this also reflects the difference between commercial buyers vs. collectors. In the midst of this market I've been trying to square the circle and understand how it can make sense (if it does at all.) What is the long term collectibility/value of a watch like the 5711/1A? It is a SERIALLY PRODUCED RE-EDITION of the original 3700 which is now in its 12TH YEAR. Patek keeps production number '"low" but we have no idea what that actually means quantitatively esp when production may just be relatively low compared to demand. The dive watch lines are NOT consistent with Patek's tradition but they may rather be the cash cows with high 2nd hand value. In addition, Patek has aggressively jacked up prices on (grand) complications so many many of the pieces trade for a discount to retail.
