What is it about the strap that you don't like? The overall style, or the tapering (22->18)?
Coming from a dive-watch / Panerai background, I ususally go for beefy, non-tapered straps. However, a beefy strap would not compliment the 765's sleek lugs imo. I might consider going with a non-tapered, 22-22mm strap...
Black dial for me means black strap but many prefer some shade of brown.

A little play is nomal. This is not a diving bezel / 24hr GMT and the "jump" required to move a whole hour apparently requires a different mechanism.
My assumption is that the three screws are only for "re-creation" purposes but maybe they are actually really used...
It wouldn't hurt to just check that they are not loose...
