Thanks Larry for a great thread and a great explanation of the changes through the years. I'm a newbie looking to buy my first GMT in memory of the one my Father had lost. A very sentimental purchase and I want to get it right. Your info and links have really been helpful in my research and trying to figure out the model year of my father vs. buying a later model year.
