Larry probably made a most accurate observation.

Another question that arises: the earlier references vs. later 18,000-19K
vs the 28 K. beat rate ones.
Comparing my 1680 red Submariner and 5512 to a 16610 and 14060M:
it seems the 1680 is more tolerant of relative inactivity than the 16610.

There is also the factor of age. The 1680 was an original purchase in Hong Kong - 1971.
As we age, our activity level may quietly be reduced.
An Oyster Perpetual may be the best exercise monitor.
