I was told that the black 1972 Daytona convertible used in the earlier episodes was in fact a kit car based on a 1980 Corvette body, but was later blown up in an episode following a lawsuit from Ferrari. Ferrari later donated 2 brand new genuine 1986 white Testarossas for the later episodes.
I personally really liked that 1964 Cadillac Couple de Ville convertible that Tubbs drove!
