I don’t think they know that Patek Philippe created an aviator watch before with the Ref: P0844 ( 56mm Oversized Aviator watch ) in 1936 and also the Ref: P1413 (James Packard’s Two Time Zone )that were both clearly inspirations of the new Ref: 5524g.

its an interesting piece as it divides opinion. Its extremely hard to get from an AD, yet the premiums are not huge on the secondary market. IMO that makes it one of the only watches where supply is the closest to demand so they got it right. Ideally a Patek should be hard to get but not impossible and having only a modest premium makes this possible. There isnt a lot after this watch if you eliminate the flippers but that is what i love about it. Its quirky and different.
