Nope, probably coincidence.

Typically, if a watch is going to be 5 minutes fast in a few days, it would be 10 minutes fast after the same interval, and so on; so if all you see is 5, we need to look elsewhere.

Often folks use their cell phone or computer to set a time, and those re-set themselves based on whatever signal they are getting at that time. Analog watches don't change, they will tick happily along at whatever they are set, mechanically, to do.
